
About Kathak Bells
Kathak Bells is an institute for learning Kathak, one of the eight major classical dance forms in India.
This institute is run by Ms Saswati Banerjee, who is a senior disciple of Guru Smt Sreelekha Mukherjee. Saswati is a registered Kathak teacher under Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay Nigam.
Kathak Bells family comprises of a teacher and a group of vibrant students from all age groups.
Kathak Bells, is operating in Hyderabad since 2017.
The main goal of this dance institute is to make the new generation aware of the Kathak dance form and develop interest in it. Some students start learning Kathak at a very young age while there are some students who join at an older age. No matter of the age they start, all the students develop a passion and love for the dance form after few months of learning. After completion of the course curriculum, it is expected that they have complete understanding of this dance form, overcome stage fear and perform, be able to compose their own steps, have better understanding of Indian culture and music and develop interest to pursue this art form for lifelong.

About the Teacher

Ms Saswati Banerjee is a deciple of the eminent Kathak Guru Smt Sreelekha Mukherjee. She has completed Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad. Ms Banerjee has a dancing experience of more than 20 years. She has performed on various stages in Kolkata, Hyderabad and in the US.
Her notable performances includes some pure Kathak performances in Gyan Mancho, Kolkata. She has also ventured for Folk dances of Bengal and gave a notable performance on folk dance in Gyan Mancho. Apart from that a composition on Kathak based on Nazrulgeeti in the Town Hall auditorium was one of her notable performances. Her ‘Gat-Bhao’ on Holi is one of her beautiful performances that was performed in Phoinex Arena complex in Hyderabad. ‘Elements of nature’ and nature consciousness through Kathak was a signature item performed by Saswati and her students in Shilparamam on Telengana Day 2023. Saswati appeared on stage in the US for few Bengali association events in various dance compositions.
